Do you or a loved one struggle with the ongoing effects of trauma?
Trauma impacts so many aspects of life such as relationships, self-esteem, and ability to function in consistently healthy ways. It makes sense that families affected by trauma find that they are overwhelmed, frustrated, and exhausted.
I’m here to offer you hope.
But first, what is trauma?
In an emotional context, trauma is defined as a distressing experience that causes significant psychological stress and impacts the way we think, feel, and behave.
Trauma can be a one time, catastrophic event, such as a car accident, sudden loss, assault, or natural disaster.
More often though, trauma occurs as the result of ongoing stressful experiences such as:
Separation from a primary caregiver
Witnessing domestic violence
Living with a caregiver’s substance or alcohol abuse
Physical or sexual abuse
Bullying
Neglect, mistreatment or lack of emotional support
Do you wonder how you and your family can do better together?
Help. Hope. Healing.
I believe that it is possible to find help, hope, and healing. In my practice I focus on what I call “The 3 Touch Points” - the 3 trauma dynamics that so often intertwine:
Childhood Trauma
Domestic Violence
Loving Someone with a Substance Use Disorder
I start with an intake where I learn more about you and your family and the challenges that bring you here today. I help you define goals and determine what reaching those goals will look like.
